Built in a strongly held historical beachside context, this new residence is both respectful and unashamedly contemporary. Adhering to neighbouring cottage typologies the form follows single level to the front, taking reference from surrounding datum while using the tactility of concrete to create sharp profiles.
Sandstone wraps the main form, leading to the entry between single and two storey form to the rear of the property. Designed for a family, materials were selected for robust nature, ability to age in place and to provide a restraint and maturity, ready for personal additions as family life changes over time.
Planning allows pockets of connection and separation of both internal zoning and external landscape, encouraging sea breezes, natural light and spending as much time as possible outside.
